National Tree Day

Our school takes part in tree planting each year, allowing students to contribute to the enhancement of our school grounds, gain hands-on experience in caring for the environment and develop a sense of community involvement.  In the past, we have been fortunate to have the support of Kingborough Council. The council has helped with the provision of both trees and the skills of their Bushcare Officer.

Each year, around 3,000 preschools, kindergartens, primary and high schools across Australia take part in Schools Tree Day. Students nation-wide have learned how to plant and care for the seedlings they grow. Schools Tree Day 2016 was held on Friday July 29th, although events can be held at any time during the year.

Schools Tree Day can mark the beginning of a long-term environmental program, engaging students in a fun, hands on activity that can reinforce their environmental, maths, science and creative arts learning or simply contribute to creating beautiful school grounds.

We look forward to continuing our involvement in National Tree Day in the future.
