The major responsibility for the learning and welfare of our students lies with classroom teachers. Further support is provided by our Child Support Team which meets regularly to review the learning and social/ emotional needs of our students. Teachers and parents refer children to our child support team. Students with additional needs are provided with various supports and may require an individual learning plan.
Our Grades 3-6 Student Support Centre provides a program to support the varying learning needs of our students.
Child Support Team Members
Our Assistant Principal is responsible for the coordination of student support services and leads the Child Support Team
An experienced teacher is assigned to coordinate the various services and interventions for students who are experiencing learning difficulties or require support to be extended beyond the curriculum. The support teacher facilitates communication with parents when specific interventions are being considered.
Early Literacy Support Teacher
The teacher in this role works with students in Prep to Grade 2 as an additional teacher of literacy.
Primary Literacy Support (Grades 3-6) Teacher
The teacher in this role works with students to extend literacy achievement standards.
A team of teacher assistants support specific programs and interventions to enhance student learning.
Kingston Primary School has a Psychologist who works at our school one day per week advising teacher and parents on ways to improve learning and student well-being.
We have a social worker working at the school one day per week to support students and families with a range of matters relating to well-being.
Our speech pathologist visits the school once a week to oversee a range of programs to support students with delays in speech development.
Launching into Learning Coordinator
One of our Kindergarten teachers provides a formal program of early learning and advice to parents of preschool aged students.
Our school chaplain provides pastoral care support to students at our school and organises activities to assist students to make and develop positive friendships with their fellow students.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutor
Recent arrivals to Australia receive ESL support by a qualified and experienced ESL tutor if required.
