Kingston Primary School is a ‘Move Well Eat Well’ school where the health and well-being of our students is of great importance. All Kinder – Grade 6 students participate in weekly physical education (PE) lessons conducted by our specialist Physical Education Teacher.
Students are expected to wear appropriate sports clothing and footwear for all PE lessons. This includes school polo shirt, school shorts or trackpants and sport shoes. Clothing items are available from the school Uniform Shop.
School House Teams
Our school has four House teams:
- Whitewater (white)
- Boronia (yellow)
- Lucas (red)
- Freeman (green)
Students are allocated to a House on enrolment.
Kingston Primary is a registered Tennis Hotshot School. All students participate in Tennis activities during the year.
Grades Kinder, Prep, 1 and 2 participate in a Daily PE Program with trained Grade 6 student Leaders. The Leaders work with the classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 12.20 – 12.50 pm. Class teachers operate an indoor activity on one other day of the week. Grades 3-6 engage in a structured Daily PE program operated by class teachers, four times a week.
All Grade 5 students participate in the Bike Education Program in Term 4.
Students from Kinder – Grade 2 participate in an Aquatics / Water Awareness program each November, involving 5 x 30 minute sessions for Prep – Grade 2 and 2 x 30 minute sessions for Kinder.
Grades 3 – 6 participate in the Education Department Swim and Water Safety program in June – July, involving 10 x 45 minute sessions.
Major school sport events include
- Swimming Carnival for grades 3 – 6, held in term 1
- Cross Country Carnival held in term 2
- Athletic Carnival held in term 3 (ECE) and term 4 (Primary)
The school participates in the Huon and Channel Schools’ Cross Country, Swimming, Volleyball and Athletic Carnivals, the State Cross Country Championships and the Schools’ Triathlon Challenge. Students are able to represent the Huon and Channel Sports’ Association in the sports of Netball, Football and Hockey, participating in the Winter Carnivals.
Students have the opportunity to represent the school in out of school hours sports including Netball, Table Tennis, Futsal, Basketball and Indoor Cricket.
